  • 2. Your case studies <ul><li>Remind us of your case studies….. </li></ul><ul><li>What is the context? </li></ul><ul><li>Who are the learners? </li></ul><ul><li>What are the key challenges? </li></ul><ul><li>Introduce us to a student/group of students (name, age) </li></ul>
  • 3. An alternative agenda? <ul><li>Read through the EFA declarations. Think about them in terms of how they relate to the personal biography. </li></ul><ul><li>Consider the core educational needs/aims for this group. </li></ul><ul><li>Draft an alternative Declaration, and if possible goals that would be relevant/appropriate/helpful for this person </li></ul>

How far has it been successful? etc </li></ul>

Assessment Quality Education in Context: A case study Your assignment is to build up a argument for your understanding of what quality education would be in a specific context for a specific group of people. The assignment has two components – i) an academically rigorous critique of the current situation, ii) the creative exploration of what quality education could be for this group of people. Submission date: April 30th 2009

Formative pieces <ul><li>A personal piece on your engagement with the topic of quality Education </li></ul><ul><li>A review of an academic paper </li></ul><ul><li>An analysis of the educational legacies in your case study context </li></ul><ul><li>A biographical narrative of a person from your case study target group </li></ul><ul><li>A model of quality education applicable in your case study context </li></ul><ul><li>A critique of an existing initiative implemented in your case study context </li></ul><ul><li>A literature review of an area relevant for your case study. </li></ul><ul><li>A group class presentation of what quality education would mean in a specific context in a low –income country. </li></ul>Session 9/10 today For next week Anytime Will discuss today DONE
  • 14. Presented as…. <ul><li>A traditional 4000 assignment. (in which case the eight pieces will have helped you to think , but might not appear in your finished piece as such) </li></ul><ul><li>A series of critique pieces, with a more traditional piece for your creative solution. </li></ul><ul><li>A portfolio of pieces, with an overarching narrative that links them together. </li></ul><ul><li>A ‘messy text’, where you juxtapose different pieces and styles. </li></ul><ul><li>A narrative from the point of view of one of the characters </li></ul><ul><li>Etc. </li></ul><ul><li>Please submit a half-page with your proposed structure and topic to me before 31st March 2009. </li></ul><ul><li>Submission date: April 30th 2009 </li></ul>
